What Is the Function of The Track Roller?

Track rollers are also called upper rollers or top rollers. They are located on the upper side of the chassis and support the upper track to run. They play a vital role in supporting, guiding and stabilizing the machine track. And absorb shocks, enhance traction, and improve overall performance and durability.

Made of High Quality Materials

The materials we use are generally steel or cast iron, designed to withstand the weight of the excavator and the forces applied during digging and moving.

Our track roller bodies are generally made of 50Mn or 40Mn2 alloy steel, which are high in strength and good in machinability to ensure product quality.

Manufacturing Process That You Can Trust

  1. The manufacturing process involves casting or forging to form a rough roller shape. This is then precision machined to specifications.
  2. Heat treatment is then performed to further enhance the roller’s properties. A quenching process is used to harden the surface. For 50Mn and 40Mn2 steels, this hardens the surface to a hardness of HRC45-52 on the Rockwell C scale.
  3. Hardening the surface in this way significantly improves wear resistance when the track contacts it during operation, thus extending the roller’s service life.
  4. While 50Mn is available, 40Mn2 alloy steel is the most common material for rollers due to its availability and properties. Like other steels, 40Mn2 requires a post-machining quenching process to achieve a target hardness of approximately HRC42 Rockwell hardness.
